The vision
Our clients had a backyard that felt unused and disconnected from the rest of the home — more of an afterthought than a real living space. They wanted an outdoor area that felt intentional, comfortable, and ready to use whether it was a quiet night in or a weekend with guests. Above all, they wanted a space that finally matched how much they loved being outside.
The process
We started by rethinking the layout to create clear zones for lounging, dining, and open space, rather than one flat, undefined yard. Durable, low-maintenance materials were chosen throughout to hold up to daily use, while covered seating and warm lighting were added to make the space usable well into the evening and across more of the year.
The outcome
The result is a backyard that feels like a true extension of the home, not just an empty space behind it. The family now uses it almost every day, from morning coffee outside to dinners with friends on the weekend.
